Your recording stays on your device.
Screen & Sound records and saves media in your browser. It does not send screen, microphone or video files to a server.
Screen and microphone permissions
Screen sharing is requested after you click Choose screen. The browser shows its own source chooser. Microphone permission is requested only when you enable Microphone. Camera access is never requested by this recorder.
The selected source is used for a live preview and five-second audio check before recording. That check is not saved as a recording. Recording begins only after you click Start recording. Tracks are stopped when setup is cancelled, recording finishes or sharing ends.
Local recording data
During recording, video pieces and basic file metadata are written to IndexedDB storage for this website in your browser profile. Metadata includes a random local identifier, creation time, file type, size, duration and reported video dimensions. The app does not save source titles or microphone device names.
Completed and interrupted pieces may remain available under Recent recordings. Deleting a backup removes that local recording and its pieces. Clearing this website’s browser data removes all local recordings. Private browsing, storage cleanup or browser eviction may also remove them. Downloaded files are controlled by you and are not deleted by this site.
Website hosting requests
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Loading pages and assets sends normal web request information to the hosting service, such as an IP address, requested URL, browser headers and request time. This is separate from recorded media. Cloudflare may process that information for delivery and security under its privacy policy.
The site does not include advertising scripts, third-party analytics, session replay or tracking cookies. Fonts and interface assets are served by this site. Browser media and storage APIs are used locally; the app has no upload, cloud sharing or account feature.
Your controls
You decide what to share in the browser chooser, whether to include microphone audio, when to pause and when to stop. Source mute controls affect the mixed recording. The live preview stays muted to avoid playing your captured sound back into your microphone.
For sensitive content, check your selected surface and close private windows before sharing an entire screen. Download and verify important recordings promptly. Read limits and recovery for local storage limitations.
