Save a take you can keep

Local recording.
Clear limits.

A browser is a useful recording studio, but it has limited storage and memory. This recorder uses conservative bounds instead of promising unlimited capture.

Know the limits before you start

LimitBehavior
60 minutesStops an active recording at the time safety limit. Paused time is excluded.
Up to 512 MBFile cap when the browser supports direct saving through a native file picker.
Up to 64 MBFile cap in browsers without direct file saving support.
64 MB previewLarger files skip full in-memory preview and download piece by piece to disk.
16 MB pending writesStops if unsaved data would exceed the local write queue bound.

The recorder reserves space for the final encoder data, so it can stop before the stated file cap. Browser quota, available device storage, encoder behavior and system load may cause an earlier stop. These are upper safety limits, not a guarantee that every device can reach them.

How local saving works

The browser encoder produces pieces during recording. They are written in sequence to this site’s IndexedDB storage on your device. The app does not collect the entire growing recording into one JavaScript array. If storage becomes full or cannot keep up, recording stops and already saved pieces are retained.

For files no larger than 64 MB, preview and standard download assemble a bounded local Blob. Larger files require a compatible browser’s Save file dialog, then stream stored pieces to your chosen file. Browser and encoder internals still use memory; the app’s bounds do not promise a constant total process memory.

Recover after a refresh or interruption

  1. Return to the same website address using the same browser profile.
  2. Look under Recent recordings. A session that did not finish normally is marked Interrupted.
  3. Download any available pieces before clearing site data. A partial file may not play or may need repair in external software.
  4. Delete the local backup only after you have checked your downloaded file.

Abrupt tab closure, browser crash or power loss can prevent the last piece from being written. Incognito sessions, browser cleanup and storage eviction can remove all local data. Recovery is best effort; it is not a backup guarantee.

Record important long sessions in shorter parts. Make a short test first, keep the recording tab open and download each completed part. A move to a different domain or browser profile will not carry local recordings with it.
