Audio troubleshooting

No sound? Find the missing piece before your next take.

Start with the source status. A missing track and a quiet track need different fixes.

Shared sound says “No track”

The browser did not return a live shared audio track. Leaving Shared sound on in the recorder is only a request. It cannot override the browser chooser or make an unsupported window share include sound.

  1. Cancel setup and click Choose screen again.
  2. For browser content on Windows, try desktop Chrome or Edge and select the content tab.
  3. Enable Share audio in that chooser if the option is available.
  4. Play something in the selected source and repeat the five-second check.

If no audio option is offered for that source, choose a different supported source or record an intentional silent video. Do not assume Microphone captures the computer’s digital audio.

Connected, but the meter stays still

The track exists but may contain silence. Confirm that your chosen content is actually playing, that its player is not muted, and that you shared the correct tab or screen. Turn off the recorder’s source mute if needed. Restart playback and use Recheck sound while it is playing.

A source can be quiet during the check and become audible later. The warning asks you to verify your intention; it is not a claim that the track can never carry sound.

Your voice is missing

Turn on Microphone before choosing the screen. If microphone permission is refused, the recorder stops setup and releases the shared source. Choose again with Microphone off for shared audio only, or allow microphone access yourself in your browser settings before retrying.

If the microphone is connected but quiet, check the input device selected by your browser and Windows, speak during the check, and make sure it is not muted in the recorder. This website does not change your operating system’s device settings.

The meters moved, but playback seems silent

Check the local preview’s volume and your playback device. If the downloaded file is silent in one player, try a player that supports its actual MP4 or WebM codecs. The combined recording normally contains one mixed audio track when either source is available; it does not store separate editable narration and system tracks.

Run a short take before an important recording. The sound check measures input signals. Reviewing the finished file verifies the whole path through encoding and playback.
